Our STory

In 1964, Christ the King Lutheran Church (CTK) was chartered while
worshipping next door at Cary High School. At that time, the town of
Cary had fewer than 5,000 residents. In the past 60+ years, the church
has seen a lot of growth both inside the congregation and in the community.
Through it all, CTK has been a church of innovation, with a passion for Jesus and a heart for justice.
VISION
CTK adopted five new strategic directions in 2025 to align with the words of Jesus, "Blessed are the peacemakers." - Matthew 5:9
CREATION CARE
We care for creation by using clean energy. In 2025 we completed Phase II of our solar project, bringing online a total of 148 solar panels. This, combined with efforts like the rain garden, composting, and our apiary are some of the ways we work toward a more sustainable future.

In 2018, CTK became an RIC Congregation and established a welcome statement to confess and celebrate the church we strive to be.
We believe that grace is at the heart of our faith.
This is reflected in 2 Corinthians 12:9, which states that God's grace is sufficient for us no matter what. Martin Luther also taught that God's grace is greater than any measure of sin we may have. God loves and forgives us unconditionally, and we cannot earn or lose this love or salvation.We believe that the Bible is a beautiful and challenging library of texts full of diverse genres.
We rely on the gospels most of all. In worship, we rise to listen to the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John as they tell the story of Jesus.We believe other faiths have much to teach us. We respect the sacred practices of other religions and strive to work together with them to create a more just and compassionate world.

Accessible parking is located on the lower parking level. There are push-button automated doors at the atrium and main office entrances. Both worship spaces have ramps to the altar and chancel area. There are ADA-compliant restrooms available as well as single stall all-gender facilities. Help us improve.
